WHAT DO WE DO?

The role of the Governing Council is joint responsibility for the Governance of the school with the Principal.to:

  • Involve the whole school community in the governance of the school, including parents, students, staff and community members.
  • Set the vision for the school.
  • Developing and endorsing policies, which support the school's vision.
  • Report to the school community.
  • Establish the facilities and services to enhance the education, safety, health and welfare of the students

WHO WE ARE?

The Governing Council consists of:

  • The Principal
  • 16 elected parents of the school
  • 3 staff of the school
  • 2 students of the school
  • 1 local council nominee

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

  • Contact the Governing Council Chairperson via e-mail or the school office.
  • Nominate for the Governing Council at the beginning of the school year prior to or at the AGM in February/March. You will be very welcome. The strength of the Governing Council is the diversity of its many members.
  • Keep up to date with the latest Council news on this web page or in the School Newsletter.

MEETING TIMES

  • The Governing Council meets twice a term on Tuesday evenings (Week 3 and Week 8 generally)
  • Parents are always welcome to attend these meetings but will not be afforded voting rights.

SUB COMMITTEES

Parents can belong to a sub committee, except Governance, without being a Governing Council member. So if you think you have skills, contacts or an interest in either of the other sub committees listed below please contact the Governing Council Chairperson via the e-mail address below or the school office.

  • GOVERNANCE: Makes recommendations re policy and organizational matters.
    Meets Tuesday 7.15 – 8.15pm, Weeks 2 and 7 each term.
  • RESOURCES: Makes recommendations re school finances and facilities.
    Meets Tuesday 6 –7.15pm, Weeks 2 and 7 each term.
  • UNIFORM: Makes recommendations re school uniform.
    Meets during school day approximately once per term..
