Excellent Communication

The foundation for student success is communication and, in the 21st Century, this is much more than reading and writing.
Our students are challenged and supported to be proficient in a range of communication types including literacy, numeracy, and the use of information and communication technologies.
Special emphasis is placed on literacy achievement for all students in all programmes.
All eight areas of learning use a range of “text types”, and the ability to create and interpret texts is explicitly taught in the subject context.
Likewise, numeracy achievement is emphasised beyond Mathematics, particularly in Design and Technology, Studies of Society and the Environment and Science.
Students need to develop Information and Communication Technology skills to enhance their understanding, to efficiently use technologies and the internet, and to enable them to review materials critically and intelligently.
Students at Salisbury East High School are given every opportunity to achieve competency with the use of Information and Communication Technology, and this provides them with the basis for deeper study and for future employment.
